Question
Ecuador is a wonderful destination that can be enjoyed year-round. It is commonly divided into two main seasons: the Dry Season and the Wet Season.
Despite its small size, Ecuador boasts diverse climates across its four main regions:
The Highlands region has a temperate climate, often described as “eternal spring” because of the moderate mild year-round temperatures. This region experiences significant daily temperature variation, with cool mornings and evenings, and warmer afternoons. Dressing in layers is typical.
Dry Season (Summer): June to September - This is the drier, sunnier part of the year. Clear skies and sunny days are common, though nights tend to be cooler.
During the day, temperatures can range from 16°C to 22°C (61°F to 72°F), but at night, they can drop around 7°C to 10°C (45°F to 50°F).
Wet Season (Winter): October to May - This period is characterized by frequent afternoon showers, overcast skies, and cooler temperatures. Mornings can still be sunny, but rain is typical later in the day.
Daytime temperatures can range from 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F), but nights remain cooler, typically around 8°C to 12°C (46°F to 54°F).
